La cantante canadiense Avril Lavigne fue la estrella de la 14a edición de los Premios MTV Europa el jueves por la noche en Munich, Alemania, al llevarse dos premios, incluyendo el de mejor artista solista.
La rubia de 23 años, que este año inició su carrera en el cine, se llevó también el premio a la mejor canción por el tema "Girlfriend".
Otra canadiense, la cantautora Nelly Furtado, se llevó el premio del mejor disco por "Loose", del que ya ha vendido 7 millones de copias en el mundo.
Justin Timberlake, uno de los favoritos de la noche, se fue sorpresivamente con las manos vacías.
El grupo estadounidense de rock Linkin Park, que ha vendido 40 millones de discos, fue reconocido con el premio al mejor grupo.
Entre los nominados en esta categoría figuraba también el grupo alemán Tokio Hotel, que ha seducido a millones de adolescentes en el mundo y en Alemania se ha convertido en un verdadero fenómeno social.
El evento estuvo animado por el rapero Snoop Dogg, quien para la ocasión vistió un atuendo tradicional bávaro con pantalón de cuero y sombrero con plumas, que cambió después por un traje negro y corbata azul.
Entre las estrellas invitadas para entregar los premios figuraba principalmente el futbolista marfileño Didier Drogba, jugador del Chelsea de la primera división inglesa.
Los Premios MTV Europa fueron creados en 1994 por la cadena de música estadounidense como alternativa a los Grammy, los premios anuales de la música en Estados Unidos.
Munich fue la sede este año después de otras ciudades europeas como Copenhague (2006), Lisboa (2005) y Roma (2004).
